All students will receive a project each term commonly based on the Integrated Theme (SOSE) we are studying. Our projects are developed to stimulate investigation, discussion and most importantly developing life long knowledge about a particular topic. Children are encouraged to use all forms of resources (internet, books, articles, encyclopaedias etc) to source out relevant information. Children are also encouraged to experiment with the design of their projects. Projects are meant to be fun so make the most of your opportunity to learn and experiment with your creativity. TERM 1 PROJECT
AUTOBIOGRAPHY- Due 30th March (Monday of the last week of Term 1)
An autobiography is a report about you. You need to answer the following questions in detail and hand the published piece in. You will receive a mark for your written report. You will then be presenting part of your autobiography to the class in the form on a speech, where you will also be given a mark for your speech. The questions included in the description of the written report are a guide only to prompt your thoughts you may chose to answer them if they are relevant or you may choose to add different information.
PART A – WRITTEN REPORT.
1. What’s in a name? -Speak to your parents and ask them about how they chose your name.
2. A picture of my life- Choose 5 significant events spread out over your life and order them chronologically to create a timeline. You need to include a picture (photograph, drawing, newspaper clipping) that relates to his event and a description (paragraph) of each event and why its significant to you. These can be happy or sad moments, they just must be important to you.
3. Birth Story-Include where you were born and the date and time. Was there anything special about your birth? Were you early? Did you have to stay in hospital? Did you cry a lot? What presents did your family get?
4. I Can’t Live Without…-Include a page where you list the most important things in your life, they can be living or material and a brief description of why they are important. It would be great for you to include pictures either photographs, magazine cut outs of drawn pictures.
5. Inspirational Person – Who is the person who inspires you the most? Who is always there for you? Who do you look up to? Why?
6. Best Accomplishment – What is the best, most outstanding accomplishment you have achieved? When did you achieve it and what was it for?
7. Heritage – What is your Heritage? What is the story of your family? Describe your family.
8. Family Tree – Provide a copy of your Family Tree.
PART B – SPEECH.
You need to make a two (2) to four (4) minute detailed speech about something off your “I can’t live without…” page. You must bring it in (or a picture of it you can’t) Your speech is marked separately from your written report, but you will be given an overall average where your written report counts for 85% and your speech, 15%.
Criteria
